Perfect as is, I changed the Old Bay seasoning to a creole one and it was great. Super quick and easy to make. 2 minutes was perfect cooking time. I did not add the extra salt, I love salt but after reading other reviews I decided to skip the extra salt.

Rita, my family loved this and have requested that it be made again. My DH was sour on fish and all we have right now (low on groceries) is tilapia. I picked this to make (actually my DH made it) and it was a hit! Definitely a keeper (as said by my DH!) :) Great way to use my Old Bay. Thanks! UPDATE: We made this gf/cf by using Sorghum and coconut milk (for buttermilk). Also fried the cod in coconut oil about 1 minute longer each side.

Really great. We don't usually put a batter on fish but I was looking for something to try out my homemade buttermilk on. I used salmon and it was so good. It would be a great way to make your own fish sticks too! Thanks for posting!

Id give it 10/10!!! This was awesome, much better than the store bought mixes. I didnt have any butter milk, so I used 1/2 TBS lemon juice to 1/2 cup reg. milk. I browned it in the fry pan and finished it off in the oven at 450 deg. Served with tarter sauce, the kids loved it kw

Outstanding recipe--I'd give it 10 stars if I could. I served this with Tartar Sauce Beer-Battered Fish With Tartar Sauce (also outstanding) which complemented this fish so perfectly. DH could hardly get enough--kept going back to the kitchen for "just one more bite." I didn't have buttermilk so made the substitution recommended by others and that worked just fine. I used my flour shaker to dust the fillets with flour & because of being interrupted by a phone call, that sat on the fish for about 20 minutes before I got back to it. It seemed to help the crust stick much better by having the egg/milk dip adhere more to the fish. I recommend it if you have the time. Thanks Rita for sharing a great recipe

This is my "go-to" tilapia recipe. My BF, who doesn't like eating the same thing too often requests this weekly! I usually only use 4 fillets and cut the rest of the ingredients accordingly. Also, instead of buttermilk, I mix 1/4 c. skim milk and 3/4 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar and let is stand for 10 minutes. (Apparently some reviewers are quite perturbed about the nutrition, so they might want to try that.) Other than that, we don't change a thing. Wonderful recipe!!

Well It's good I'll admit that, but how this made it into the low-fat/calorie category I'll never know. flour/buttermilk/egg/fried in oil.

I'm not a fish lover, but have been trying to eat healthier so I gave this a try. Very good! Nice, crispy texture. I didn't have Old Bay, so I added just a little cayenne pepper, garlic, and cajun seasoning. I fried the tilapia a few minutes on each side and then put it in the oven to finish because it wasn't cooked through.

Very good and easy too. Used Blackening Seasoning Mix Paul Prudhomme instead of the Old Bay. Totally forgot the baking soda/powder and only used an egg no buttermilk, sauteed in olive oil and it turned out perfect and crunchy.

This made some very crispy and tender fish! In lieu of Old Bay, I used about 1 T. of the seasoning mix called for in Baked Tilapia With Lots of Spice Baked Tilapia with lots of spice (the seasoning is the first ingredient through Italian Seasoning). Thanks for sharing! http://www.recipezaar.com/Baked-Tilapia-With-Lots-of-Spice-99709

Very nice breading recipe. Stays crisp just as described! I served it without the tartar sauce and it was lacking. My fault!

I made this tonight and it was fabulous! DH said if I didn't post a comment, HE would! Didn't have Old Bay, so I used a tablespoon of Tony Chachere's seasoning. Terrific!

Crispy is right! I loved the use of Old Bay and found this recipe really use to make. I use cod instead of tilapia, but it was still really good. I will make this again soon!

This recipe was great. The whole family enjoyed it and had second's and one son had thirds lol I followed the recipe exactly but I did double the flour mixture. Rita thank you for a recipe that will be made again. Highly recommended.

Very good & easy. My family has already requested this again. I couldn't find my cornmeal, so I substituted 1 Cup of Jiffy Cornbread Mix in place of the cornmeal & flour. I also sprinkled some lemon juice over the fish before dusting it with flour. Thank you for posting!
