My family of 5 loved this! I have to say, i did not do the chicken with marinade part b/c I was trying to use up some pre-breaded chicken tenders. I baked these, and made the sauce to go over it. I used 1/4 cup vinegar and it was plenty sweet. I used seasoned(garlic)rice wine, and used a little ginger rice wine. I also used chili flakes. It took no time to thicken, and you must serve with jasmine rice. Great-will make again!

5 Stars It was my turn to do a birthday lunch today. I decided to do chinese food. Sesame chicken, fried rice, and eggroll. I served this recipe to my 3 girlfriends today. It was a HIT. I fixed exactly as directed in recipe. This is a keeper recipe for anyone who wants to impress. I was a hit, as well, for serving it.

YUMMO! I made as written and fried half in vegetable oil and baked half. We really could not taste the difference = baked it is, since it is better for you. I felt the sauce was way too thick, therefore I'll adjust next time. Made it with fried rice and homemade egg rolls. Love this recipe!

You're spot on with this one---it really does taste like restaurant sesame chicken sauce! I didn't use the marinade or batter because I had to make this meal with precooked chicken pieces, but the sauce was easy to make, no changes to be made and soooo tasty over over the chicken and some steamed white rice. Can't wait to try it with the batter! Even DH kept saying how great the sauce was!

Flawless. This epic recipe was perfect for teaching me how to cook a simple meal. I went to my local chinese restaurant and asked them what I could use instead of chili paste and sesame oil ( since I couldn't find any). She told me she doesn't use sesame oil and that she dices a small red pepper and uses that. It was great, I think I'll lay off some of the garlic next time though. Thanks for your contribution!

This recipe is awesome! My 9 year old son makes this recipe for us. My husband and I cut up and fry the chicken (we bread it in Japanese bread crumbs) for him but he creates the marinade, the sauce and the rice. Thank you for such a perfect and kid friendly recipe!!

Awesome recipe! I put extra red chili flakes since my hubby likes it spicy.

DELICIOUS! I also used 3/4 of a tsp. red pepper flakes instead of chili paste, and I used balsamic vinegar because it was all I had. It turned out great anyways. Next time I think I'll try it with grilled chicken vs. frying it because the sauce itself is so flavorful and delicious.

I have made this dish several times and it is very good. However, I have made these changes to the sauce: Added 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, reduced the cornstarch to 2 Tablespoons because 1/4 cup made the sauce too thick. I also reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup because the full cup made it too sweet for me. NOTE: I have also made a reduced calories version for some of my girlfriends by skipping the chicken frying process. I just marinate the chicken with the soy, wine, and oil. Then stir-fry it with a bit of oil until it is no longer pink. Then I make the sauce as prescribed with the adjusted ingredients. Add it to the chicken and bring it to a boil and sauce thicken. It is so good and saved a ton of calories. My friends love it too.

This was the best! My family thoughroughly enjoyed every bite! I will make it again (and again)! Thank you for this posting]. I am always looking for new recipes as I cook daily for 7. I did however change just a few things. I used only 1/2 cup of sugar and pepperflakes instead of paste. Both were perfect. Also, I dredged the chicken lighlty in flour before frying. I just discovered RecipeZaar. I am so grateful to have found it. I truly appreciate and respect everyones opinons and suggestions and comments. Thank you everyone! I plan to share my own recipes soon. Happy cooking!!

I just made this last night and it was fabulous! I made two changes: I needed it to be gluten free so I used Bob's Red Mill All Purpose GF Flour. This worked perfectly so any other GFers out there, don't be afraid to try this one! Also, I didn't have chili paste so I substituted Sriracha Sauce and it turned out wonderfully. This is a huge hit and we'll be making it again.

Not that this recipe needs another review but I would like to put my two cents in....I just made this for Chinese New Year. This meal was so delicious!! One thing I did different was add red pepper flakes instead of chili paste (I didn't have any). The second thing I did different -- I only added 1/2 cup sugar. It was fine. Next time I will double the sauce to put on rice. I served this with eggrolls, crab rangoon, rice and broccoli and green tea. This meal was so much better than take out. 1/27/09 I made this for Chinese New Year again. Everyone loves this recipe. I made another batch for today for my staff. We are all celebrating the year of the ox. Make this ---you won't be disappointed!!!
