http://pecan-pecan.blogspot.com/2013/01/krispy-kreme-year-in-making.html My friends and I made these last night and all agreed this recipe is a keeper. We actually enjoyed the holes as much as the doughnuts themselves. Our recipe made quite a bit more than 2 dozen but I may make them thicker next time!

These are not even in the same league as Krispy Kreme. That said, there not bad either. The glaze is the weak link of this recipe. Would I make it again? No.

What a great recipe, went together quick with no problems, I only used the glaze as that's what I like, did add 1 tsp of cinnamon to the dough when mixing for extra flavor and it was great. Will be making this often.

I was very unsatisfied with this recipe. I thought it tasted more like a bagel than a donut. It was bland and tasted nothing like KK, and the glaze was too sweet. I probably will never make this again, but if I do i'll add less vanilla to the glaze.

Taste just like Krispy Kreme. Need to roll a good 1/2" thick, mine were too thin. Made 1/2 recipe and didn't try the chocolate icing. Used the deep fat fryer - I bring it out once a year!

Nothing like fresh donuts - chocolate frosting doesn't crumble like with the originals because it's fresh. Good and not as expensive as the originals.

EXCELLENT RECIPE! I used leftover scalded milk in my glaze instead of hot water and glazed twice. I also used dark chocolate chips and made a glaze instead of frosting and made several jelly-filled. This is a very versatile recipe and very simple. It takes a little time, but it is easy to follow and the rewards are fantastic!!!! DELICIOUS!!!!!

Used canola oil instead of shortening; these are awesome when you have mastered the art of doughnut making! Light and airy, I will make this recipe again while trying to replicate Dunkin' Donuts toasted coconut topping. Thank you very much for sharing!

These were good but not just like Krispy Kreme. They were best when first cooked. I will make them again. I think I need to practice my technique to improve the quality. Thank you for sharing with us!

I thought that these were just ok. I really liked the glaze, but I didn't think they tasted like Krispy Kreme at all. They were good if you ate them right away.

Finally a recipe to make 'real' doughnuts. I live in The Netherlands and it is next to impossible to buy GOOD doughnuts here. Now I can make them at home. I've been looking for a good recipe for quite some time. Thank you for this great recipe!

The doughnuts tasted great, but I have to agree with others that they're a bit denser than Krispy Kreme. Loved the glaze! Thanks for posting.

These tasted great though they were a bit heavy. I think I probably used too much dough per doughnut. It also takes a lot of time. If I can figure out how to have them ready and then cook them in the morning, we will be making these again.

Just finished making my first batch of these -- but it won't be my last! I live in Winston-Salem, NC, the HOME of Krispy Kreme -- and have been eating them all my life. These are not quite as airy as the originals, but the taste is pretty close. These were pretty forgiving, as I thought the dough might be too stiff, but after it rose it did great!

I haven't gotten to make the doughnuts in this recipe, but if you are looking for a great glaze for doughnuts, this is a perfect but addicting glaze! I found myself licking the platter after my own version of doughnuts were gone. Thank you for sharing!

My dh used refrigerated biscuit dough (gasp) to make the doughnuts, but used this glaze. Oh, so very yummy.
