  1. Strangely enough.. people have given reviews that are inconsistent with Long John Silvers original recipe. It IS suppose to be dense... it DOES have an onion in it... and it does NOT have salt and pepper. I worked there as a teenager ... this recipe comes out just like the store bought. Thanks for passing it on.

  2. This was really easy to make, but we all agreed it was missing something. They did puff up just like LJS and had the same texture too. I will have to play with this to figure out what to add. Thanks for help with supper!

  3. I should have noticed that salt and pepper (or any seasonings) were missing. Unfortunately, I'd already made a few before I tasted one. I seasoned the rest of the batter, but they just weren't very tasty. I also thought they were a little dense/heavy, and there was way too much onion for the amount of batter.

  4. I could not eat it. It was awful and disappointing because I love their hush puppys.

  5. I just had Long John Silvers hush puppies yesterday and thought I would try this recipe. It does Not taste like theirs. It needs a more sweet onion flavor and less salty from the garlic salt. It is also to dry. I will have to tinker with the recipe.
